The Big Headed Ant have 2 distinct sizes of workers. A major also known as a soldier has a big head hence their name and they defend their colony. While the minor worker have 12 segments and they have a stinger, which is not visible most times. The minor will forge for the colony.
Big Headed Ants nest in fences, cracks and voids in trees near your home or business, and even in the walls of your home or business. Their colonies can form so huge, they are called "Super colonies".
While most Big Headed Ants feed upon live and dead insects, once inside a home or business they prefer protein rich foods, such meat or peanut butter, but will also enjoy sweets and fruits.
