The American Cockroach can grow to about 1 1/12 inches. Brown in color with a white ring around its pronotum (shield looking area behind the head.) They also have wings with a rounded tip.
Preferring to nest and feed in shady areas, the American Cockroach, feeds on decaying matter, book bindings, paper, sweets, glue, soap, fruits and vegetables. In stressful situations they will eat their own.
Females produce egg capsules every 7 days that contain at least 15 eggs.
